The steps of a nuclear chain reaction is:

(a) Splitting

(b) Emission

(c) Absorption

Explanation of Solution

In a chain reaction, the nucleus is splits into two or more lighter nuclei initially. After splitting the kinetic energy and the gamma radiation is released. Along with it, three neutrons are emitted. After emission, these three neutrons make fission reaction with three nuclei and these three neutrons are absorbed by other fissile atoms. This process continues and a chain is formed during this reaction, is known as nuclear chain reaction

Two type of chain reaction is:

Controlled chain reaction.

Uncontrolled chain reaction.

Conclusion:

The process of nuclear chain reaction is based upon nuclear fission.
