The wood sample has a length of 30 mm, and the hole has a 20mm-diameter. The wood
compressive strength is 20 MPa. The pressure on the sample is intended not to exceed two-third
of its strength. The bench vice is made of cast iron whose yield strength is 200 MPa. Suggest
dimensions for a hollow circular cross section where its thickness in one-tenth the outer
diameter to replace the current cross section at (m-n) and withstand the worst case of applied
stress due to these working conditions.
