Concept explainers
What is the relationship between liquid pressure and depth of a liquid? Between liquid pressure and density?
The water pressure on the submarine when submarine dives double to its previous depth.
Explanation of Solution
Introduction:
The pressure of liquid which is at rest depends on three factors:
- Density 2. Gravity 3. Depth
Liquid pressure is directly proportional to depth of liquid.
For any given liquid, the liquid pressure increases as ones goes deeper in liquid. As submarine goes deep in the sea, the pressure of liquid increases due to increase in depth.
Conclusion:
As submarine dives to double of its previous depth, the liquid pressure on the submarine also gets doubled.
