Chapter 13, Problem 53P
Interpretation Introduction

Interpretation:

The structure of the product from the given reaction is to be drawn.

Concept introduction:

Endiandric acid is a chemical compound isolated from the tree and has various biological activities. It acts as an antibiotic. Endiandric acid has many compounds ranging from A-G. Endiandric acid C shows good antibacterial activity. The biosynthesis of Endiandric acid takes place by Diels-alder cyclization reaction.

Diels-alder reaction is an organic reaction in which substituted diene and dienophile react with each other in order to form a substituted cyclohexene compound. It is a single step reaction.

Students have asked these similar questions
Ibufenac, a para-disubstituted arene with the structure HO2CCH26H4CH2CH(CH3)2, is a much more potent analgesic than aspirin, but it was never sold commercially because it caused liver toxicity in some clinical trials. Devise a synthesis of ibufenac from benzene and organic halides having fewer than five carbons.
What product is obtained from the following reaction?
Tranexamic acid, a drug useful against blood clotting, is prepared commercially from p-methylbenzonitrile. Following is one of the steps in its synthesis, draw the structure of the product of this step.
