Chapter 10, Problem 8RQ
Summary Introduction

To determine:

The first ion released into cytoplasm of a muscle cell in response to electrical impulse that initiates the contraction of muscle.

Introduction:

Muscle contraction is initiated by an electrical impulse. It involves the sliding movement of myosin head groups across the actin filaments. The muscle cells are stimulated for contraction by the innervated nerve cells. These nerve cells trigger the generation of electrical impulse in the muscle cell through the release of neurotransmitter at the neuromuscular junction.
