Chapter 10, Problem 5FIB
Summary Introduction
Introduction:
Nondisjunction is the failure of separation of the chromosomal pair during anaphase stage of cell division. The nondisjunction results in an extra copy of one chromosome in one gamete and no copy of a chromosome in the other gamete. The failure in the separation of the chromosome can occur in any of the two meiotic stages because both can result in the extra chromosome or lack of chromosome in gametes.

Phenotypes that are related to the sex can be classified as: sex-linked, sex -limited, or sex-influenced. Sex-linked phenotypes are _____________________________________.
produced by autosomal genes (on non-sex chromosomes) that are present in both sexes but are only expressed in one of the two sexes.
produced by autosomal genes (on non-sex chromosomes) that are present in both sexes but are more severely expressed in one of the sexes.
produced by genes that are present on the X chromosome and are expressed only in the females.
produced by genes that are present on the X chromosome and are expressed when present in XY males.
None of the other answers are correct.
_____ is a form of 46,XY intersex that affects chromosomal males. It is by far the most common form of 46,XY intersex. These individuals have testes that produce testosterone, but their bodies lack working androgen receptors. When these individuals are born they often have female-typical genitalia, and they develop female secondary sex characteristics at puberty. They also tend to develop a female gender identity.
A) Androgen insensitivity syndrome
B) Turner's syndrome
