Potential energy of a chemical reaction is a form of energy developed due to position, composition or arrangements of atoms or molecules. It is located in the bonds of the reactants of the chemical reaction.
Explanation of Solution
Bonds hold the atoms, molecules or ions. These bonds contain the potential energy of the reaction. When the chemical reaction is completed then bonds of the reactants are broken and new bonds are formed. As a result products formation takes place.
For example in the following reaction the potential energy is present in A-A and B-B bonds. After the reaction new bonds C-C and D-D are produced.
