Answer to Problem 55A

The year of largest ozone hole area is 2000 and smallest ozone hole area is 2002.

Explanation of Solution

The graph represents the data of ozone depletion which is divided between years and area. Area is given in million kilometers square.

According to the graph, the longest area of ozone was depleted in the year 2000 and the lowest area of ozone was depleted in the year of 2002. In 2000, 28.7 million square kilometer area of ozone was depleted and in 2002, 18.0 million square kilometer area of ozone was depleted.

Conclusion

Year 2000 witnessed the longest depletion whereas year 2002 witnessed the smallest depletion of the ozone layer.
