Interpretation Introduction

Interpretation:

Reasonable conclusion for the experiment needs to be determined, if entire experimental data is correct.

Concept introduction:

Answer to Problem 3STP

Correct answer: Option (a)

Explanation of Solution

Option (a) It can be seen in the graph that at 0°C the amount of CO2 dissolved in the drink is 0.30g whereas at 25°C , the amount of CO2 is 0.15g. Thus, at lower temperature, CO2 dissolves in greater amount. Thus, this is the correct answer.

Conclusion

Option (b) In the experiment performed by the student, temperature is continuously increasing with each sample and so the amount of CO2 is decreasing. Thus, this is the incorrect answer.

Option (c) The higher the temperature, the higher is solubility of solids such as sugar dissolves easily in warm water than it dissolves in cold water. But dissolving of CO2 is exactly opposite. The higher is the temperature, the lesser is the mass of CO2 dissolved in the liquid. Thus, it is an incorrect answer.

Option (d). The higher is the temperature, the lesser is the mass of CO2 dissolved in the liquid as it can be seen that at 25°C, the amount of CO2 is 0.15g Thus, it is an incorrect answer.
