Concept explainers
(a)
Interpretation:
The relative and absolute ratios of different hydrogens in pair of compounds needs to be determined.
Concept Introduction :
By using hydrogen NMR, it is possible to determine the number of hydrogens in each molecule which gives only the relative number of hydrogens and not the absolute. The peaks obtained from the H-NMR indicates that either there is one hydrogen, or more than 2 hydrogens based on the size of the peak but it cannot determine how many hydrogens. For which the ratio is to eb compared to determine the absolute hydrogen.

- 4. Halogenated compounds are particularly easy to identify by their mass spectra because chlorine and bromine occur naturally as mixtures of two abundant isotopes. Chlorine occurs as "CI (75.8%) and "CI (24.2%). Ignore the presence of "C isotopes. For the compound, C,H,Cl;: a) At what masses do the molecular ions occur? b)What are the percentages of cach molecular ion?arrow_forwardAnswer part b. Please ensure its legiblearrow_forwardEach peak in the spectrum below can be used to provide a measure of the mass of this protein, you can work out the charge associated with each peak, and measures can be averaged to find the overall mass. Use simultaneous equations to find the charge associated with each peak in the spectra below, which will allow you to calculate the average mass of each species. Include an estimate of the error associated with this measure.arrow_forward
- Please make sure to answer all the below. Need the correct asnwer with attention to detail.arrow_forwardPlease answer just parts d-f!arrow_forward3. Attached is the IR for one of the compounds you crystallized in this lab. (a) Is this molecule 2- Naphthol, Acetophenone, Aniline or Vanillin? NAME the compound at the bottom of spectrum box. - Benzene and hexafluorobenzene have nearly identicalboiling points, despite the fact that hexafluorobenzenehas significantly more total electrons than benzene. Why do you think this is so?arrow_forwardPls answer with explanation. Thank you so mucharrow_forwardPlease interpet this spectrum as far as the major peaks. For example, is the 3438.78 an NH peak or C-O stretch? What about the other main peaks and also the subsitution shown.arrow_forward
