Describe the experiment of Stern and Gerlach. How are the results for the hydrogen atom explained?
Interpretation:
The experiment of Stern and Gerlach and result of the hydrogen atom has to be explained.
Explanation of Solution
Stern-Gerlach experiment is based on a beam of silver atoms that is directed into Field of a specially designed magnet.
The magnetic field is used to split the beam of atom. One magnetic pole faces is bent towards one half beam of atom and another half towards the second magnetic pole face.
The effect of this experiments the atom acts as magnets by a positive or a negative component that means the spin quantum number is positive or negative. The above similar process can be done by Hydrogen atoms.
The experiment of Stern and Gerlach and result of the hydrogen atom was explained.
