Chapter 8, Problem 5AWK
Summary Introduction
To review:
The effects of pericardial effusion and its treatment.
Introduction:
The heart is one of the vital organs and has an integral role in regulating and functioning of the body. It provides nourishment to the entire body in the form of oxygen. The heart is surrounded by a sac call pericardial cavity. Due to pericardial effusion, the excess fluid fills the sac and affects heart’s main function. It can be treated by surgery.

Inflammation of the pericardium can lead to a condition called pericardial effusion, in which fluids collect in the space surrounding the heart. What effect would this have on the functioning of the heart? How might the condition be treated?
One treatment for heart problems is “bypass surgery.” What is this and why is it done?
compare and contrast the difference between, right, left, and biventricular heart failure. Explain why a patient could have right-sided heart failure.
