Chapter 8, Problem 4CT
Summary Introduction
Case summary:
Mr. D’s wife notices that her husband has constant back pain and stiffness. The pain and stiffness keep on increasing and spread up to his vertebra. On diagnosis ankylosing spondylitis is noticed.
Adequate information:
Ankylosing spondylitis is a chronic disease that causes fibrosis, ossification and synostosis.
To determine:
The health concerns related to ankylosing spondylitis.
Introduction:
Mr. D is suffering from ankylosing spondylitis which is a type of arthritis that affects the vertebral column. It is caused by the fusion of bones with each other. The inflammation in the joints is due to abnormal joining of the bones and tendinitis. There is no cure and treatment available for this disorder.

The virus SARS-CoV-2 which causes covid-19 has quite flexible nail protein. Make a simplified biomechanical equilibrium model based on the black and white card (electron microscopy). Assume that C is a pin joint. Joint B is described as a torsion spring with force pair moment M = κα, where α is the angle in radians. Suppose further that force from above can be modeled as gravity in A, and that the medium acts as a vertical roller support at R. Dimensions: LBC = 100 nm, LAB = 2LBC. The angle θ = 10◦ . a) If m = 10 milligrams, what is the “stiffness” κ, in fNm / row? (milligram = 10−6 kg, n = nano = 10−9 , f = femto = 10−15.) (5p) b) If m = 10 milligrams, what is the amount of force from the medium (The "roller support")?
What ion is necessary for movement of the troponintropomyosin complex? What is the role of thesarcoplasmic reticulum in this process?

the age of 12 years. Physical examination shows hip girdle weakness. His serum creatine kinase concentration is markedly increased. This patient's symptoms are most likely
caused by the accumulation of a defective protein in which of the following locations in muscle cells?
