Describe the fracture. Why do you think Emily had this type of fracture?
Mrs Franklin is a 70 year old lady who was suffering from kyphosis (hunchback). While working on her garden on a windy afternoon, she slipped and fell on the pathway, and ended up with a fractured left elbow and bruised thigh. Her neighbor heard her cries for help and sent Mrs Franklin to the emergency department for treatment.
At the hospital, Mrs Franklin was informed by the doctor that she suffers from osteoporosis, which contributed to her fracture. Explain why women of Mrs Franklin's age are more prone to suffer from osteoporosis, and describe the processes and changes in bone tissue related to osteoporosis.
