The dissection and comparison of a human body with animal bodies is the earliest research method that is still used. Herophilus is known as the Father of Anatomy. He dissected the human body and concluded that blood vessels carry blood. Illustrations became a way of recording anatomic findings and passing on the knowledge. Anatomists preserved specimen and collected bodies and body parts.
