To explain: decision on use of interpolation or extrapolation to find a certain value.
Explanation of Solution
Introduction: We have given a set of data pairs.
If the desired value, falls between the values of the given data pairs . Then interpolation method is used. In interpolation, some complicated functions can turn to simple functions. Suppose in a graph a straight line passes through two points . These two points have some known value. We can easily estimate the value of unknown points from the graph.
And if the value falls beyond the values of the given data points, then extrapolation method is used. From extrapolation we can predict future data points from the given data points. Example we can predict the future population, from the given population data. Suppose in aa office pay increases average rs.1000.00 per year, then we can extrapolate and say that in 10 years pay should be about 10000.00 times higher than today.
