Chapter 52.2, Problem 2R
Summary Introduction

To review:

The genetic basis for a behavior, in which all of the offspring produced by interbreeding of two individuals from different populations, resembles one of the parents.

Introduction:

Gene expression differs in populations, which live in different environment and it leads to changes in expression of a gene that codes for the same trait in separate populations. The environmental stimuli determine the expression level, and changes in single gene expression can affect the overall expression of a trait.

In corn, kernel color is governed by a dominant allele for white color (W) and by a recessive allele for yellow (w). A random sample of 152 kernels from a population that is in Hardy- Weinberg equilibrium reveals that 35 kernels are yellow and 117 kernels are white. What is the frequency of individuals with the homozygous recessive genotype? Group of answer choices .27 .56 .26 .23
