Routing Information Protocol (RIP):

• RIP is a dynamic protocol that is used to find the best path between source and destination over a network.
• RIP uses hop count algorithm to find best path.
• The hop count algorithm is used to find the shortest path between source and destination.
• The data is delivered to the destination at high speed with shortest amount of time using this hop count algorithm.

Open Shortest Path First (OSPF):

• All Internet Protocol (IP) Networks use OSPF as routing Protocol.
• OSPF uses Link State Routing (LSR) algorithm.
• OSPF is used as Interior Gateway Protocols (IGPs) in larger networks.
• OSPF can be used in an autonomous system.

Given data:

Old Army is a large retail store connected with 1000 stores across United States and Canada. Each store is connected to Old Army network.

Old Army utilizes Local area Networks (LAN) and Wide Area Networks (WAN) for its internal batch transmissions. At the end of each day, all details such as payroll, sales information are sent to the corporate head office in Atlanta.
