Introduction:

Optical microscopes or light microscopes use visible light and a system of lenses to magnify images of small subjects. Four special types of microscopes can be described that have varied combination of lenses, condensers, and light sources: bright-field, dark-field, phase-contrast, and interference. The fluorescence microscope uses ultraviolet radiation and the confocal microscope uses a laser beam as the illuminating source.
