Interpretation:
Strategies for the purification of an antibody out of antiserum found after inoculation of antigen needs to be proposed.
Concept introduction:
Biochemists produce antibodies which is specific to certain antigen, by injecting that antigen into a rabbit twice three weeks apart. This antigen stimulates the production of antibodies in the blood which recognize the antigen. Then blood from the rabbit is drawn out and blood serum which contains the antibodies is separated from blood cells from centrifugation. Then antibodies are purified by various strategies for further use because cell may a produce different antibodies for different surface features of the same antigen. These antibodies are referred to as polyclonal antibodies.
