A large mass of the ice, which moves at a slow speed over land that is generally known as the glacier they are also known as the rivers of ice. When the glacier or the ice sheets melted from a mountain, they moved into the water and from the water when they start moving and then the surface is gouged by them. That gouge of the surface is generally known as the glacial striations.
That striation process of the ice sheets or the glaciers occurs in the direction about which the sheets or the glaciers move.
