Question
Chapter 24, Problem 19E
Interpretation Introduction
Interpretation:
To explain the reason for Co2+ to have one unpaired electron when linked with strong ligands, and why it has 3 unpaired electrons when linked with weak ligands.
Concept introduction:
Coordination compounds that have same formula but different structure. The types of isomers are geometrical, stereoisomers, and optical. If the ligands are arranged on adjacent sides or on opposite sides, it is said to be geometrical. If the ligands are arranged in such a manner that the mirror images of the complex superimpose, it is chiral or if it does not superimpose, then consider it optical.
