Introduction:

Sulfur forms a major composition of the biomass. It is present in proteins and other co-factors. Sulfur-containing molecules such as H2S (hydrogen sulphide) act as the final electron acceptor in the photosynthesis process, while other compounds may act as an electron donor and thus, the cycle includes both oxidation and reduction processes.
