Chapter 21, Problem 12TY
Summary Introduction

Introduction:

Telomeres are stretches of repeated nucleotide sequences at the chromosomal ends that prevent the degradation of chromosomal genes over time. As the enzymes involved in replication are not capable of replicating the ends, stretches from the ends are lost at every cycle of replication. So, when telomere is used up from the chromosome, cell division starts losing away the left-out chromosome portion leading to a huge loss in genetic information and finally seizing the process of cell division.
