Interpretation:
The dynamic equilibrium process should be identified given the solid, liquid phase radioactive iodine (I2).
Concept Introduction:
Equilibrium constant: Concentration of the products to the respective molar concentration of reactants it is called equilibrium constant. If the K value is less than one the reaction will move to the left side and the K values is higher (or) greater than one the reaction will move to the right side of reaction.
Heterogeneous equilibrium: This equilibrium reaction does not depend on the amounts of pure solid and liquid present, in other words heterogeneous equilibrium, substances are in different phases.

- In Section 13.1 of your text, it is mentioned that equilibrium is reached in a closed system. What is meant by the term closed system. and why is it necessary to have a closed system in order for a system to reach equilibrium? (a) Write the chemical equation for this process, assuming that it reaches equilibrium. (b) What is the equilibrium constant expression for this system? (c) How can the process be manipulated so that it does not reach equilibrium, allowing the continuous removal of hydrogen sulfide?arrow_forward
