To review:
The reason as to why children with CGD are more prone to fungal and viral infections than viral infections.
Introduction:
CGD is caused by defective phagocytes, that are unable to destroy aerobic pathogens. They render the phagocytes ineffective in against many microbes. This is because, the changes in genetic code of phagocytes renders them incapable to produce the reactive oxygen intermediates, that are the prime requirements to kill aerobic pathogens.
