Introduction:
Majority of microorganisms found on Earth do not cause harm to humans. In fact, many of them are beneficial for humans and the environment. However, a few microorganisms infect humans and other organisms and cause disease. Such microorganisms are known as pathogens. As human population is growing, new territories and habitats on Earth are being used for human settlement. Humans are now interacting with more microorganisms than before.
