Summary Introduction

Introduction:

During the continental drift, different land pieces or isolated continents moved relative to each other through slow drifting. When two different continents get detached from single land mass they show resemblances in species as the species present on these continents come in contact and compete for the resources with others. The distributions of species show similarities in nearby continents as they originate when the continents join.

The three beetle species live in the same ecosystem, and they likely evolved from the ancestral species that colonized the region. Which statement best explains how descent with modification influenced speciation in these beetles? A. The ancestral species carried neutral gene mutations that spontaneously caused speciation when they colonized the region. B. The ancestral species randomly diverged into three species before colonization and then colonized the regions that best suited their new adaptations. C. After colonization, small groups separated from the rest of the ancestral species and developed different adaptations that helped them survive and reproduce. D. After colonization, the large group interbred until they developed enough neutral genetic mutations for speciation to occur.
The map below shows how the continents once were connected together (link to bigger map if you need it (Links to an external site.)). Based on the map and biogeography, where would we expect to find animals and fossils that were closely related to animals from Brazil? A. Nigeria B. Russia C. Canada D. India
which statement about macroevolution is true? a. The history of life on Earth follows a general trend toward increasing diversity marked by rare mass extinction events. b. The theory of punctuated equilibrium proposes that most evolutionary changes occur over long periods of time. c. The theory of gradualism proposes that major evolutionary changes happen relatively rapidly and are then followed by long periods of little change. d. All scientific understandings are complete, as scientific investigations have now filled in all remaining gaps.
