Introduction:
Crossing of parent organisms with different forms of a trait to produce offspring with specific traits results in hybrids. Farmers, scientists, breeders, and gardeners produce hybrids through the process known as hybridization. They select traits that give a competitive edge to hybrid organisms.
Answer to Problem 5A
One parent plant is fast growing and the other parent plant is resistant to pesticides.
Explanation of Solution
Hybrid organisms are bred to be more disease resistant, to produce more offspring, or to grow faster. Two different tomato plants are chosen to produce a hybrid tomato plants that grow fast and are pesticide resistant. The hybrid plant has both the pesticide resistance trait of one parent and the fast growth rate of another parent.
So the phenotype of one parent plant will show resistance to pesticide and the other parent will show fast growth rate.
