To write:
A paragraph discussing the approach to create a transgenic organism and the drawbacks of creating the same.
Introduction:
Genetic engineering is the technology used to directly manipulate the gene of an organism. It is also termed as genetic modification and genetic manipulation. This
Explanation of Solution
Transgenic organisms are made by inserting DNA from other organism into the genetic material of the given organism. They are made for research and medicinal purposes mainly. These organisms are created by genetically manipulating host species, so that they can carry foreign DNA in their genome.
There are disadvantages of producing transgenic organisms. These organisms can reduce biodiversity and natural selection of genes in a species. Moreover, while forming transgenic organisms, such organisms can also be produced that are allergic to certain environment or molecule. Such plants can be obtained that can lead to the emergence of super-weeds that can ruin a large portion of crops.
