To write:
If, all features of living organism arise from adoption and, if a trait in an organism is a product of natural selection by evolution.
Introduction:
Evolution may occur through several mechanisms like genetic drift, mutations and migration. In natural selection, the fittest organism is selected naturally. Natural selection is a process which results in adaptations of an organism to its environment through means of a selective reproduction of the changes in their genetic constitution or genotype. Natural selection is the key mechanism of evolution, which is the change in inherited traits or characteristics of a population over the generations. Adaptations are the changes or modifications in the body of the organism or behavior which aid in survival.

- Natural selection allows certain species to survive. The organisms that survive are those best adapted to their environment. Does natural selection make organisms more complex and perfect?arrow_forwardWhat is evolution and why is a basic knowledge of evolution necessary?arrow_forwardDo you think the human race is continuing to evolve in a Darwinian, genetic sense? Are the genes of our species changing? Do not just write "yes" or "no," but explain why you think so. In addition, include in your explanation of how the mechanisms of evolution, such as natural selection, would be at play.arrow_forward
- What are some of the ways that Darwin's theory of natural selection played out in human evolution? Can you see evidence of particular adaptations as our ancestors evolved, speciated, and in some cases went extinct?arrow_forwardWhat is the benefit of evolution to all organisms?arrow_forwardWhat is the role of variation in evolution – if heterozygosity is reduced, what happens to the potential for evolution?arrow_forward
- If natural selection can only operate on existing variants, where does all that variation come from? If, as Darwin (1868) and Huxley concluded, variation arose from changes in development, then how could the development of an embryo change when development is so finely tuned and complex?arrow_forwardWhat are the correct steps for evolution by natural selection?arrow_forwardWhat conditions are necessary for evolution by natural selection?arrow_forward
