So,

  φ=sin1(sinφ1SG1SG2)

Here, v1 is speed of wave in rock 1,

  v2 is speed of wave in rock 2,

  θ1 is the angle of incidence,

  E is elastic modulus for both the rock,

  SP1 is specific gravity of rock 1,

  SP2 is specific gravity of rock 2,

  ρw is density of water,

  ρ1 is density of rock 1,

  ρ2 is density of rock 2.

Calculation:

  φ=sin1(sinφ1SG1SG2)

then,

  φ2=sin1(sin38°3.62.8)

  φ2=44°
