Question
Chapter 10, Problem 5Q
Summary Introduction
To review:
Predict whether the fluctuation in the process of photosynthesis would be more in the shade-intolerant or shade-tolerant plants.
Introduction:
The shade-tolerant plants cannot tolerate more sunlight. They can complete the process of photosynthesis with a limited amount of light. They can absorb more light quickly due to their leaf adaption. In case of shade intolerant plants, the leaves are smaller and absorb the high intensity of light.

Describe various factors that affect plant growth (e.g. growth regulators, sunlight, nutrients, water, tropism), and explain by giving example, why someplants can live in the forest although they might not be exposed to the sun ‘nosunlight can reach them’.

Negative phototropism
Positive thigmotropism
thigmonasty
Negative gravitropism
A circadian rhythm
