For single-sideband production in AM SSBSC, three transmitter configurations are
typically used: the filter approach, the phase-shift method, and the so-called third
method. A bandpass filter circuit is used in the filter method to reject one sideband
and transmit the remaining sideband. The modulating signal and carrier are applied
directly to one of the modulators in the phase-shift method, then both are moved 90
degrees and applied to the second modulator. The outputs of the two balanced
modulators are double-sideband suppressed-carrier signals with the proper phase, so
that one of the sidebands is canceled when they are combined in a linear summer.
The disadvantage of single-sideband transmission is which of the following
statements?
Select your answer.
Tuning single-sideband receivers is more difficult and precise than
tuning DSBSC AM receivers.
Because most single-sideband transmissions involve a suppressed carrier,
envelope detection cannot be employed unless the carrier is…

frequency 20KHz resulting in maximum and minimum modulated carrier amplitude of 110V &
90V respectively.
