Animal Cruelty is a problem that many ignore. People are oblivious to these animals and the negligence their owners show. Animal cruelty is an underlying problem in today’s society, and the only way to counteract these problems, is for this generation to do something about it.

Animal abuse is a worldwide known problem, but what do people think of when the abuse is mentioned? Animal abuse is beating animals, not feeding them enough, testing products on them, giving them drugs, making them fight, and multiple other forms. There are countless people who would say that most circuses, zoos, and other animal entertainment places cause abuse to the animals, but just how many of these captive animals are actually abused? People say that keeping animals in cages at zoos and not letting them free roam is a form of abuse that should not be allowed. That statement can easily be argued as most do not recognize that as an animal abuse situation considering the animals are well cared for in most zoos. Sadly, the abuse of captive animals is cruel and dangerous and can cause increased death rates in the animals. Forty tiger cubs were even found dead in a freezer in a so-called tiger sanctuary in Thailand. People can be ignorant of the fact that plenty of zoos or other animal forms of entertainment are mistreating their animals; the abuse should be recognized and punished.

Zoos and aquariums neglect proper care and treatment for animals. People have been using animals for a long time, they have controlled them for even longer. But despite that, there have still been some positive outcomes from this otherwise dark subject. Some people support the things that are happening to these animals. But others make it their mission to stand up for the animals that are mistreated everyday. Animal cruelty can mean many things to many different people, it can be a controversial topic, with many different sides and stories to it, it has a long history, much of it being good, much of it bad.

Animals in captivity no longer have control over their environment. The animals normal behavior that is intended to enhance their survival prospects and welfare is taken from them. These captive animals are prevented from doing things they naturally do like foraging, roaming, running, climbing, flying, and being with their kind. Now they must rely on humans to provide them with their needs. Animals in captivity become depressed and disheartened, lots of them develop abnormal behavior for example, swaying, pacing and head bobbing.

I think that animals should not be in captivity. First, we spend too much money on animals in captivity.
