“The computer was born to solve problems that did not exist before.” This famous quote by Bill Gate is what inspired my interest in the field of computer science. The unabated advances that have taken place in the field of computer science in the past few decades are a standing testimony to the fact that computers have a lot of potential of improving this world. I grew up at a time that coincided with these advances in modern computing. There is still tremendous development that can be done. This potential is what motivated me to pursue my undergraduate studies in this field. My academic experience in college provided me with a wide range of knowledge and skills. The first two years of my undergraduate study were about freshman courses like data structures, networks, database systems and algorithm design, which gave me a strong background in the basics of computer science. During the final two years of my study I took courses like computer security, program analysis, image analysis, machine learning and computer vision. Such a variety of courses helped in acquiring an overall perspective into this field. I developed a particular interest in pattern recognition, machine learning and image …show more content…
I am a proactive learner, who likes experiencing new things. I want to continue exploring the field of machine learning and human cognition. During the course of doing projects, I realized that machine learning is one field that has the largest potentials for improving the world we live in. Machine Learning is a part of artificial intelligence that you can see working very well. Most of the technology that surrounds us these days is making use of machine learning, from our cell phones to social media to ecommerce. This is one field where you can actually teach the machine to do things for you. Taking the example of Skype translator that was released in
Some people have skills that makes them unique, my skill was just always a hands on learner. I have always just enjoyed fixing minor things around my house since I was four. My mother would usually say “Where’s my handyman at?” whenever there were something to fix. Something about getting the knowledge of turning something useless into its original state just intrigues me. When I was around ten years old, I started skating and it had me actually figure out the board completely and learned how to assemble one which gave me more experience.
1. I have developed an interest in science during my high school career, and love watching new technology being created. I figure that I will most likely either continue on to medical school after I receive my undergraduate degree or try to work to design new technologies that will aid scientific research and study. Therefore, it was really a no-brainer for me to pursue various STEM related courses and subjects. In my opinion, the STEM field contributes to innovation and world progress more than any other fields. Without STEM fields, I most likely wouldn’t even be able to type this paper, or use the internet to submit my college application and scholarships. If the STEM field were to disappear, the world would stagnate. In order to prevent
Career Tech will provide me with an environment of friends that are dedicated to the same level of education I am. Career tech meets my family’s standards. It provides a way for me to get a great academic foundation and continue playing for Wasilla Warriors basketball team. I believe Career Tech will boost me into my future and my road to college.
I am dedicated to my work and once I start something I do my absolute best to finish it on time and right the first time. I am enthusiastic and willing to learn new things and is able to adapt to new stations and people if needed. I also have excellent communication skills with peers around me which is helpful because you need to be able to talk to people effectively so they can understand what you need them to do or what they need you to do. I am familiar with some programs used to code like Khan academy , Scratch , and App Inventor (grade 10) and used them with great efficiency knowledge and skill. In Grade 9 I took Comm-Tech which deals with Photoshop and video editing and also used them effectively. My passion for being game designer /
My adventure with science began in childhood. The initial appeal of it was how challenging some questions could be. Over time my interests started to gradually shift towards mathematics, because I always felt the need to look for general solutions to the problems I faced. While I still have a keen interest in physics I tend to fell more comfortable when doing mathematics. I find the beauty of its abstractions and the ability to address a wide range of problems by generalizing them, to be unparalleled.
A year ago the Harvard Business School Executive Education programs dominated my thoughts. Somehow thanks to Google, data mining, and a few powers at be, an ad popped up about the Harvard Extension School. Naturally I clicked on it and was astonished by what was available. A Finance degree, that sounds like a path to grow my business. However, my love for science cajoled me to take a look at what was then the environment science sustainability program. Not only could I take some management classes to fulfill my degree requirement, but also I could extend my financial analyses to include social and environment impacts. Moreover, in my daily reading of the Bible, I came across a verse: And the work of righteousness shall be peace; And the
A career as Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist has allowed me to see the effects of drugs on the people who take them. Working with patients who have all types of diseases, are on many types or have tried many types of therapies, and are frequently involved in a drug trial as given me another view of the drug development process. The world of pharmaceuticals fascinates me and my work so far has ignited a desire to acquire additional skills that will allow a deeper involvement in clinical studies. After over ten years of working in a hospital setting using imaging drugs I transitioned into a career working for a company that manufactured these drugs. It was during this time that I learned about the interactions of drugs and different types
As a graduate (June 2016) with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Economics from the University of California at Los Angeles, I’ve continually found my greatest successes have been achieved in handling different kind of assignments efficiently with Excel and other data analyst software. In consideration of MUFG posting for the Financial Analyst, Associate, Health & Welfare, I’m confident my skills and background align perfectly with the requirements of this role.
The vibrant orange lights within the case shot on like a torch in the dark of a cave, illuminating the graphics card, motherboard, RAM sticks, SSD, fans, and CPU cooler. The inner workings of my creation, the structure, the bones and the guts of my self-built, brand new PC gaming computer. My journey to the world of PC building and gaming was exciting and I felt pride when my own creation came to life for the first time. I was on the road to my final stop in the gaming realm, PC gaming, where I plan to stay.
I feel as though CIT is a good choice of major for me because I’ve worked with computers
I am from Yuma Arizona and I have lived in Lake Tahoe for almost 30 years. My interests include digital art, 3d modeling, and pretty much anything that has to do with creating content for the web and games. I do not ski or snowboard, I am clumsy and simply just a chicken!… I Am working on my AA in Computer and Information Science. I am also interested in becoming an entrepreneur and using the digital content I create as my product. I am in the very early stages, basically at the thought stage with ongoing research as I go through my classes. Theatre 101 was not one of the requirements for my AA, fortunately, the class I was scheduled for was cancelled and I was able to register for this class, one of those “happy accidents” I would say. After
Throughout the beginning of my high school years I have been trying as much as I could to figure out what I wanted to do, who I wanted to be, who I wanted to help, and just about every other question people ask when they don’t know what to do in their future. With the amount of possible jobs, careers, etc. attainable, it was difficult to figure out which one I wanted to do. I had a bunch of subjects I had absolutely no interest in, and I had several careers I might have been interested in. It was seemingly impossible to come up with something and then move on with it.
It was during the final year of my under graduation that the above lines from Robert Frost’s “The Road not Taken” ran through my mind everyday as I kept thinking about my plans following the completion of my undergraduate studies. I had two choices – 1.To pursue graduate studies 2.To take up a job offer in many
My research interests lie in the broader aspects of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning, Data Mining and Human-Computer Interaction (HCI). I am first truly introduced to the huge domain of AI and Machine Learning by my undergraduate thesis supervisor. I am aware of the state-of-the-art research in these fields and I find it amazing how these researches are influencing the real world. AI comprises so many sub-fields and the research areas are so vast, a great many scientific advancement, in a way, can be incorporated into AI and the current world is revolving around it. Although there have already been tons of researches on AI, I believe there are still lots to conquer and for these boundless research opportunities, I’m particularly interested in this. My undergraduate thesis topic lies in the areas of AI & Machine Learning. From working on my thesis, I’ve grown a keen interest in Machine Learning. Particularly I’m interested in Deep Learning, Neural Network, Unsupervised Learning etc. It’s amazing how Machine Learning has progressed over the years and how much impact it has on real-world
I have always been fascinated by the field of computer science, and that led to me pursuing a degree in Computer Science from North Carolina State University (NCSU). While at NCSU I had the chance to work under a computer science professor and learn a great deal from him. As a result of my prior research experience I believe that I will be a perfect fit for this Research Experience. Research has been an essential part of my academic life, and doing research has both increased my critical thinking, and provided me with opportunities to learn, and effect a change. Doing research has helped me understand what to expect from a career in the computer science field, prepared me for a future in computer science. Last year and a half I have built a network of professional connects, and learned to solve difficult and complex problems, and I want to continue that with this Research Experience.
