Explanation of Solution
Calorie is a unit of energy. Food calorie means the amount of energy we get from our food. To measure food calorie, the amount of energy released when food reacts with oxygen, that is, combustion reaction needs to be calculated. To determine the amount of heat transfer during a combustion reaction is to use the reaction between the fuel and the oxygen to heat a measured amount of some other substance.
Foods are sources of energy. Burning of food, that is, combustion reaction generates energy.
