In order to publish Business Intelligence four types of servers are used:
- E-mail or collaboration tool:
- These are used to send static reports.

- Low skill level is needed in order to use email or other collaboration tools.
- Web Server:
- These can be used to send both static and dynamic reports.
- In web Server user can create alert or RSS feeds to have the server push content to the users when report is created.
- Low skill level is needed if the report is static whereas high skill level is needed when the report is dynamic.
- SharePoint:
- These can be used to send both static and dynamic reports.
- In SharePoint user can create alert or RSS feeds to have the server push content to the users when report is created or SharePoint workflow can also push content.
- Low skill level is needed if the report is static whereas high skill level is needed when the report is dynamic.
- BI Server:
- These can be used to send dynamic reports.
- In BI Server user can create alert or RSS feeds to have the server push content to the users when report is created and user can subscribe for particular BI results on a particular schedule or in response to particular events.
