The hypothesis that inhibitory factor, which prevents bud formation, passes through gap junctions.

Introduction:

Connexons are channel proteins that line walls of gap junctions. They allow direct communication between the cells. Communication provided by gap junctions is very fast. Binding of antibodies to the connexons disrupt direct communication and free diffusion of molecules between the cells.
