Answer to Problem 7.16E

Donate: Numbers 00 to 74

Not donate: Numbers 75 to 99

Explanation of Solution

Given:

Donating their organs upon death: 75%

Donating their organs upon death percentage is 75 which mean that 75 out of 100 would donate their organs upon death and 25 of them not donating organs upon death.

There are total 100 possibilities so 2-digit numbers, therefore 75 digit assigning to the “donate organ” and 25 digit assigns to “not donating organ”

Donate: Numbers 00 to 74

Not donate: Numbers 75 to 99

ONE REPETITION

Using the TI 83/TI 84 calculator generate on sample of 100

  randInt(0,99,100)

Counting the number of values that are between 00 and 74 (including), these are the number of people who are donating the organ upon death

Suppose there are 72 numbers between 00 and 74(including), therefore 73 of the 100 people would donate their organs.
