Chapter 6, Problem 6.6P
A parallel-plane capacitor is made using two circular plates of radius a, with the bottom plate on the xy plane, centered at the origin. The top plate is located at z = d, with its center on the 2 axis. Charge Q is on the top plate; -Q is on the bottom plate. Dielectric having z-dependent permittivity fills the region between plates. The permittivity is given by (z) = đœ–0(l + z2/d2 ). Find (a) D; (b) E; (c) V0 : (d) C.

b.
Capacitance will increase.
c.
Capacitance will decrease.
d.
Capacitance will become zero.
The width of the plates of the capacitor in the figure is “a”. Bottom plate + Q = 480ε0 upper plate with Q = -480ε0 Accordingly:
a) the capacitance of this capacitor
b) the voltage between its ends
c) polarization vector
d) Find the polarized charge density on the surfaces
e) Find the starting current and resistance before loading.
If this were actually a parallel plate capacitor, which would be the dielectric constant of the dielectric? assume the capacitor has plate that are 2.50 mm by 2.25 mm, and the plates are separated by a distance of 3.30 mm.
