Answer to Problem 57A

Frequency of the ArF laser’s radiation (v) = 1.55 × 1015Hz

 Ephoton= 1.03 × 1018J

Explanation of Solution

Given:

Wavelength of ArF ’s electromagnetic radiation =193.3 nm.

Explanations:

As per wave equation of motion:

c=λ×v

Here, c represents velocity and v represents the frequency.

Now putting the value of  λ = 1.933 × 107m and c= 3 × 108ms1

The frequency can be calculated as follows:

cλ=v

Putting the values,

v =3×108 m/s1.933×107 m =1.55 × 1015 s1

Now, as per Planck Einstein equation

Ephoton= hv

Where, E is the energy of a photon, h refers to Planck’s constant and, v refers to frequency.

Now putting the value of h = 6.626 × 1034Js and v = 1.55 × 1015Hz or s1

Ephoton=(6.626×1034  Js)(1.55×1015 s1)=1.03 × 1018 J

Conclusion

Frequency of the ArF laser’s radiation (v) = 1.55 × 1015Hz

 Ephoton= 1.03 × 1018J
