Chapter 46, Problem 2MC
Summary Introduction

Introduction:

Plant hormones coordinate the development and ripening of fruits and seeds. Seed maturation is closely coordinated with fruit ripening because most seeds are dispersed in fruits. Auxins, gibberellins, ethylene, and abscisic acid are the important plant hormones. Auxins and gibberellins, and ethylene are responsible for the ripening of fruits and seeds. Ethylene is important for senescence in plants and stimulates the formation of abscission layer. Abscisic acid is responsible for maturation and dormancy of seeds.
