Chapter 44.4, Problem 1CSC
Summary Introduction
To determine:
How the nutrient leaves the leaf, before the leaf falls.
Introduction:
Vascular tissue system forms the transport channel across the complete plant body. Vascular tissue system made up xylem and phloem. Xylem is used for transporting water and minerals from roots to all parts of the plant. Phloem transfer nutrients and food to the different parts of the plant from leaves.

Photosynthesis occurs in the chloroplasts packed within the mesophyll cells. Summer leaves are green because they contain about 50 times more chlorophyll than carotenoids. But during the fall, carotenoids have their season of glory because chlorophyll breaks down first, revealing the striking orange and yellow colors of carotenoids, which were there all along. The changes that leaves undergo before they fall off allow the plant to reclaim nutrients from the leaves for storage and use the following spring. How do these nutrients leave the leaf ?
Photosynthesis generally takes place in which parts of the plant?
A.
Leaf and other chloroplast bearing parts
B.
stem and leaf
C.
Roots and chloroplast bearing parts
D.
Bark and leaf
the rate of photosynthesis in plants decreases due to clogged stomata of the leaves
