Introduction:
Fertilization is the process of fusion of the sex cells or gametes which are derived from the separate male and female individual of the same species. The sex cells of the male are called the sperm and the sex cells of the females are called the eggs. The sperm and egg cell are haploid in nature. The union of the sperm and eggs produces a diploid cell called a zygote.
