To describe how would you design and carry out an experiment to answer this question using $\text{30}$ students at your school who have agreed to participate.

Explanation of Solution

In the question, researchers want to find out does listening to music while reading a story help or hinder recall of factual details. So, we will randomly assign $15$ students to Group $1$ . The remaining $15$ students are in Group $2$ . Then, you give both groups a story to read.

Group $1$ will read in a room where there is no music on and where it is silent.

Group $2$ will read in a room where there is music on.

Then, afterwards you give each student the same test, which tests for recall of factual details. And we will compare the test results for both groups.
