Introduction: Scientifically work is the force applied through a distance.
In general, work is thought to be something that people do to earn money or might be exerting a force with muscles.
However, in science, work is the force applied through a distance.
For example, if a person pushes a table, he exerts force on the table. If the tables moves through a distance, then work is said to be done. If the tables does not move, no matter how much force is applied, scientifically no work is done.
