Chemical potential:
Chemical potential is the energy which is gained or released during phase transition due to change in number of particles. It is a function which governs phase stability. As the chemical potential for a phase decreases, its stability increases.
The chemical potential tell us how the Gibbs Free energy will vary with the number of moles ni of component I holding temperature, pressure, and the number of moles of all other components constant. For a pure substance, the chemical potential is equal to its molar Gibbs Free energy
Molal Gibbs free energy can be determined using the following formula as show below,
