Summary Introduction

To describe:

The function of the following parts of human brain; medulla, cerebellum, reticular formation, thalamus, amygdale and cerebral cortex.

Introduction:

The human brain is the complex structure. It is responsible for many different functions. It plays an important role in signal transmission, human nervous system it receives input from the sensory organs and sends output to the muscles. Human brain has three main parts: The forebrain, midbrain, and hind brain.

Describe the structures and functions of the neurons and neuroglia of the cerebrum, the cerebellum, the diencephalon, and the brain stem. Describe the structures and functions of the Schwann Cells in both the central nervous system and the peripheral nervous system. What role does the Pituitary gland play as the control center of the brain? Differentiate between white matter and gray matter. Describe the functions of afferent and efferent nerves. List the components of the central nervous system and the peripheral nervous system. Compare and contrast the sympathetic nervous system with the parasympathetic nervous system, provide functions for each. List the major areas/regions of the brain and provide a generalized function for each region. List and describe the 3 membraneous layers that protect the brain. Describe the injuries of these layers, based on the level of damage. Differentiate between the autonomic and somatic nervous systems. Describe the process of depolarization and…
Using the following image of the brain:aa   a)Identify the neurotransmitters that are involved in the different cortical regions. You can place them in abbreviation in the brain image. Eg DA, Serotonin (5HT), NE, E, ACh, etc. b)Locate the brain lobes and differentiate each one with colors.Mark in the drawing all the cortices associated with these lobes and mention their primary, secondary and association functions in a table.Include the Brodmann areas to the crusts indicated in the drawing. c)expalin the function of each part located in the puicture d)expain what would happen incase of brain damage
Trace the major neuronal pathways to and from the brain. Include the name of the Pathway (or Tract), whether the tract is ascending (sensory) or descending (motor), what it basically does (e.g. type of stimulus) , and where it decussates (i.e. crosses the midline, which not all cross).
