Concept explainers
To determine:
Definition of the terms taste bud, lens, retina, rod, cone, cochlea, and semicircular canal.
Explanation of Solution
Taste buds are small structures present on the tongue that helps in the detection of taste.
Lens is the part of the eye, present behind the iris and it is responsible for the projection of the image on the retina.
Retina is a thin layer that is present in the inner side of the eye and converts the visual stimulus into neural stimulus and sends it to the brain.
Rod is a photoreceptor present in the retina and they are responsible for the detection of the light.
Cones are the photoreceptors present in the retina and are responsible for the detection of color.
The cochlea is the term that represents the inner ear, it detects the sound vibration and converts it into neural signals so that it can be sent to the brain for interpretation.
The semicircular canal is a thin fluid-filled tube present in the ear. It plays an important role in the maintenance of body balance.
